Pilot Buys Pizza for Delayed Passengers

No one likes having their flight delayed – even pilots. When a Frontier Airlines flight was diverted from it’s original destination of Denver, CO to Cheyenne and then stuck on the ground for at least 2 hours the pilot took action. There wasn’t any food left on board of the plane so he called the nearest pizza restaurant and ordered what ended up being around 40 pizzas – one for each row on the plane. Here’s a picture from one of the passengers:

Tyri Squyres (a spokesperson for Frontier Airlines) said she’s not surprised at all by what happened. “This is not unusual for our pilots to go above and beyond to care for our customers,” she said. “We have some great pilots who work here.”

What’s the coolest experience you’ve ever had while flying? Let us know!

What Does it Actually Cost the Airlines to Fly Baggage?

Any experienced (or even inexperienced) flyer knows that baggage costs can add up – and quickly. Ranging from $25 to $150 one way baggage charges can end up costing as much as the flight itself – but how much does it cost the airline to throw your suitcase onto the plane?

We can understand that fuel places change frequently, but a new analysis came out that shows that it only costs the airlines about $2 per bag on average. This is annoying, but there are ways around paying those outrageous baggage fees:

-Unless you’re flying with Spirit Airlines, you’ll be allowed to have 1 small suitcase and 1 personal item (like a purse) on the airplane with you for free. Take advantage of this! However, there are things the airline won’t allow you to have with you but will allow you to check in your baggage (check the specific airline’s website for policies)

-Fly with Southwest! They allow you to have the carry on items as well as 2 FREE checked bags! Now you actually can bring the kitchen sink with you on vacation.
