Passport Info – Real ID
Real ID is a fancy way of expressing the TSA’s new standards for flight ID security. Essentially, if your ID is sanctioned by a state which has complied with Real ID’s security standards, you’re allowed to fly! Or, more specifically, you won’t be disallowed domestic flights.
The original date for Real ID’s implementation was January 22nd, 2018. However, there’s no need to worry about meeting the January 22nd deadline, as according to this chart every state has either already complied or received a time extension. However, if your state hasn’t yet complied with Real ID, you’ll need to have some other form of acceptable identification starting October 10, 2018, when the extensions wear off.
